Oakdene

Oakdene is a boutique vineyard and winery established by Bernard and Elizabeth Hooley in 2001. Their unique 'Upside Down House' cellar door is located at Wallington on the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong.

Oakdene specialize in the varieties best suited to the Bellarine Peninsula's maritime climate. Plantings include Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc with small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Proximity to the sea moderates the climate while the cool temperatures extend the growing season: ideal conditions for low yields of quality fruit. The winemaking is dedicated to capturing varietal character and complexity.

Oakdene's wines are made in a dry style, the reds with ageing in mind and the whites for immediate drinking. Peta's Pinot Noir, William Shiraz, Bernard's Cabernet and Jessica Sauvignon are highlights.
